EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapeutic approach that helps individuals process distressing memories and experiences. Originally developed to address trauma-related conditions, EMDR has shown effectiveness in treating a wide range of issues.
During an EMDR session, you will be guided to recall specific distressing experiences while simultaneously being grounded in the present moment. Grounding techniques such as therapist-directed eye movements, bilateral sounds, or taps help you achieve dual attention on past and present. This process aims to stimulate your brain's natural ability to process and integrate traumatic memories in a less distressing way. EMDR therapy can lead to a reduction in emotional distress, maladaptive beliefs, and symptoms related to the traumatic experience.
In my experience, EMDR is more efficient than talk therapy alone for most clients. Additionally, it creates powerful healing because the insights that relieve distress are self-generated rather than suggested by the therapist.
EMDR is an effective treatment for a wide range of concerns, including:
traumatic memories
healing from unhealthy relationships
depression/anxiety
specific phobias
emotion regulation
body image distress
medical anxiety
burnout
compulsive behaviors
EMDR Boost
Are you working hard in therapy but still feel stuck? Many people make progress in talk therapy, only to find that certain memories, patterns, or emotional triggers won’t budge. When insight and coping skills aren’t enough, EMDR Boost can help.
EMDR Boost is a short-term, focused form of EMDR therapy designed to complement the counseling you’re already doing. Sometimes called adjunctive EMDR, it works alongside your primary therapy to address the roadblocks that keep you from making the progress you want.
With EMDR Boost, you continue your regular therapy while meeting with me temporarily to target specific trauma, blocking beliefs, or recurring patterns. Once those issues are addressed, you return fully to your ongoing therapy with renewed clarity, energy, and emotional resilience. This gives you the benefit of staying connected to a provider you already know and trust while also trying something new.
Why EMDR Boost? My clients have reported:
breaking through therapy plateaus
reduction of trauma triggers
increased emotion regulation
If you’ve been feeling stuck in therapy or are curious about how EMDR can help, EMDR Boost may be the support you need to release what’s holding you back and move forward in your healing journey.
